REP. STUTZMAN & REP. HARIDOPOLOS URGE SECRETARY HEGSETH TO ACCELERATE FUNDING FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP’S GOLDEN DOME

June 4, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marlin Stutzman (IN-03) and Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08) led a letter to Department of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Department of Defense Deputy Secretary Steve Feinberg requesting immediate action be taken to add 40 space vehicles with proven Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS) payloads to President Donald J. Trump's Golden Dome initiative. The Members of Congress urge the Department of Defense to reprogram $750 million of FY25 funding in order to maintain an accelerated launch schedule as outlined by President Trump.

"As weapons modernize and become more dangerous, our homeland defense must follow suit," said Rep. Stutzman. "My belief is that in order to make our country safe, we must fortify our new Golden Dome with as many available resources as possible. President Trump and Secretary Hegseth have already taken amazing initiative in crafting our country's new impenetrable shield. Hoosiers in Indiana's 3rd District stand ready to assist in supporting innovation and crafting capabilities that will strengthen our national defense."

“Space is the ultimate high ground, and America must remain dominant in it. President Trump’s Golden Dome plan is a bold and necessary step to protect our homeland from the next generation of threats like hypersonic and ballistic missiles. A space-based tracking layer is essential, and I’m proud that Florida’s Space Coast will be at the center of that mission. This is national security, American innovation, and economic strength all coming together in space,” said Rep. Haridopolos.
