Stutzman Welcomes Chairman Miller to Fort Wayne

Congressmen meet with local veterans and VA officials

Fort Wayne, IN – Today, Congressman Marlin Stutzman (IN-03) welcomed Congressman Jeff Miller (FL-01), Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, to Northeast Indiana for meetings at Fort Wayne’s VA hospital and a veterans’ forum and legislative update.

“Chairman Miller has worked tirelessly for vets and it is an honor to work together for our country’s veterans,” said Stutzman. “With an aging veteran population and a new generation of servicemembers returning from the Middle East, we need to make sure that we’re providing the highest quality of care here in Northeast Indiana. I’m very pleased with the success we’ve achieved but we have a long way to go. I’m looking forward to the work ahead. The mental health annex will add to the services provided here in Fort Wayne and is an important part of our ongoing efforts to serve our heroes. Chairman Miller and I will continue this important work.”

"I would like to thank Rep. Stutzman for hosting me in Fort Wayne today, and for being an advocate for America's veterans here in Indiana, and in Washington," said Rep. Jeff Miller, Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs. "At the Fort Wayne VA, we met with veterans and saw firsthand what a resource the center is to this community. As more of our veterans return home, they will have increased needs for resources here in Indiana. We are providing for our veterans by expanding those crucial services, especially for those suffering from the invisible wounds of war."

Last year, Congress approved a 27,000 square-foot mental health annex. By including a mental health clinic, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinic, and a substance abuse clinic, the annex will add to the services provided in Fort Wayne.

Today, Congressman Stutzman and Chairman Miller met with veterans and VA officials at the Fort Wayne hospital. Afterward, Congressman Stutzman and Chairman Miller held a veterans’ forum and legislative update. The event offered veterans an opportunity to voice their concerns in person and receive the latest information on the committee’s work in Washington.
